Englishman obviously doesn't understand Celtic hospitality. That Frenchman would have been offered the the best food and drink and accomodations. I'm thrifty, too, and I was raised thrifty, but the "stinginess" label came about as a defense mechanism by us having nothing and what we did have, taken from us by Englishman's ancestors. Oh wait, they were Scottish too :)
